Moodle is a software package for creating courses and Internet-based Web sites. It is an ongoing project designed to support a social constructionist framework of education.

Installation is simple requiring a platform that supports PHP and the availability of a database. Moodle is an abstraction layer database so it supports all major database management systems data.
